スティーヴン・キングは確か「原稿に穴が開いてその向こうの世界に入る」という表現を使っていて、これはまさにフロー状態だと思うのだが、なかなか穴が開かずに、白い原稿用紙を眺めつづけるスランプの恐怖についてもまた書いていた。フロー状態に入れないのは何よりも恐ろしいことだから、あらゆる手立てを考えてきちんとフロー状態に入れるようにするのだ。
